Tasting notes

Special grade of Golden Yunnan. Delicate fruit tones with full body. Fine breakfast tea with or without milk.

Background

This really is a special grade of Black tea. In the tea world it is hard to find teas that have a balance of strength and quality flavours. Rare Golden Yunnan is one of them as is Keemun. Rare Yunnan is a tea consisting of nothing but tea buds. The Oxidisation process has turned them a beautiful orange. You may come across teas with letters following the estate name like 'FOP' this means flowery orange pekoe, a fine grade of tea. The term orange comes from the orange buds found in the tea. This is also reflected in the tea term 'Tippy' meaning lots of buds. Rare Yunnan is an example of how finer teas deliver fuller better defined flavours. All lovers of China or even stronger teas should try this tea at least once, to get acquainted with delicate tea flavours.

Perfect preparation

Easy to prepare. Treat as any Black Tea. Add freshly drawn filtered Boiling water to three teaspoons of dried tea in a half litre teapot. Brew for between three to six minutes. This tea is perfect with milk and will produce a classic breakfast tea. My father will not drink most of my teas, he is dedicated to builders tea, but this is a tea that has shaken his tea foundations. He loves this with milk when I am not around to notice!
