Tasting notes

Organic fresh full bodied tea. Malty with excellent spice undertones. Good with milk.

Background

Our choice of Nilgiri tea comes from Oothu Estate. For me this is an excellent tea. Medium strength with full body and malt, spicy tones. We have recently up graded to a higher quality of tea and this is reflected in the new price.

Oothu Estate is situated high in the Western Ghats, Blue Mountains, of Nilgiri India. The estate offers a glimpse at the future of Organic Tea production. Because of the estates remote position in the tropical forests. Organic agriculture and windmills were adopted to ensure a harmonious relation in a delicate environmental region. The result is a tea estate to be proud of. One of the biggest problems of the Organic tea estates. Has been to produce the highest quality teas. Mass market teas have not this pressure on Organics. But in the last years Organic Estates have started to produce the highest quality teas in all areas. It is obvious to me that the estates needed time to adjust.

Oothu Estate offers a high grade well formed tea, married with an environmentally well managed estate. Which is surely the right direction for the modern tea industry.

Perfect preparation

Treat as any Black tea. Use the same method as you would for your normal tea. Boiling water onto three teaspoons of dried tea in a half litre teapot. Brew for between three to six minutes. This tea is perfect with a little milk or without and will produce a delicious breakfast tea.
