Tasting notes One of the rarest teas in the world today. Lower in caffeine than any other tea. Delicate and refined flavours develop slowly in the mouth. Flower and fruit hints to the taste. Background Our choice of Silver Needles is plucked in Fuding county Fujian Province China. This is the original growing area for White Teas. These Silver Needles are organic certified.
All White Teas are low in caffeine Silver Needles are the lowest of all of them. Silver Needles are the buds of the fine White tea Bushes growing in Fujian Province. These teas are picked in spring on three separate days not more. All of the production depends on fine weather for this plucking window. Without perfect weather the crop is considered ruined. Production is a slow drying or roasting that requires perfect skill to ensure a fine result.
Tasting a tea like this is not always immediate. White teas give a slow build of flavour in the mouth. After the first sip you may not be sure of what you are tasting. But on the second sip the taste will start to define itself. This taste is very special and I will leave you to your own definitions. Perfect preparation Silver Needles need a little attention to make a perfect cup.
We recommend: Bring freshly drawn filtered water to a boil. Leave your water to cool for two minutes. Add two teaspoons of Silver Needles to a half litre pot. Add cooled water to your tea and leave to steep for three minutes. Your tea is ready. Silver Needles can be steeped longer if you wish.
