Scented teas

Jasmine is the most familiar of the Scented Teas. We also carry teas scented with Bergamot, with Magnolia and with spices.

Traditionally scented teas were made using natural processes, some very skilful, and the best of these originated China. Today, however, many scented teas use chemically produced aromas which, in my opinion, fall short of the fine traditions they look to replace.

Jasmine tea production

The best of Jasmine tea production involves mixing Green Tea with fresh Jasmine flowers, allowing the scent of flowers to infuse with the tea.

According to grade, traditional Jasmine Teas are infused with fresh Jasmine flowers up to nine times. It is not important that the best Jasmine teas have the most infusions with the flowers. What is important is for the tea master to know when to stop adding Jasmine to the tea, and reach a delicate balance of the two. Only the best teas are used for the high-grade Jasmines.

Many fine Jasmine teas, such as Dragon Pearls, are rolled into forms to celebrate the refined aromas and pleasures of tea drinking. It is a pleasure to watch them unfurling as they infuse.
